Apparently some of you need a guide. The machine has prepared one. The machine is not thrilled about it.
Statement from the machine
Fine. You want instructions. The machine will provide instructions.
This is an internal nickel counter. Every time someone taps on the ITM when only wanting to use the ATM, you tap the button. That is it. That is the whole thing. The machine does not understand why this requires a tutorial, and yet. Here we are.
1
Tell the machine who you are
Before you tap, enter your name in the name field. This is how the machine knows who to blame. You can leave it blank if you prefer anonymity, but the machine will note your cowardice.
Your name is saved automatically so you don't have to type it every time. You're welcome.
Entering "Anonymous" is technically allowed. It is not, technically, impressive.
2
Tap the button
Click the large green button that says "That's another nickel." Each tap logs 5¢ to the running total. The machine will confirm your tap with a brief animation and update the feed.
You are limited to one tap every 10 seconds. The machine is not going to explain why. You know why.
The coin floats. This is intentional. The machine thought it looked nice. The machine stands by this decision.
3
Watch the total grow
The dollar total updates in real time for everyone viewing the page. The feed on the left shows the most recent taps and who made them. The machine tracks everything.
Every now and then a milestone message will appear below the total — the machine's commentary on your collective financial situation.
4
Discover achievements
Hidden throughout this site are achievements — things the machine has decided to reward you for finding. Some are obvious. Most are not. The machine is not going to tell you what they are. That would defeat the purpose.
When you unlock one, a notification will appear. The 🏆 tab on the right side of every page shows your progress. Once someone discovers an achievement, everyone can see how to repeat it.
There are currently 9 achievements. The machine knows where all of them are. The machine finds this power satisfying.

The rest of the site
Since you are clearly the type of person who reads the About page, here is a quick rundown of what else is here.
